Counselling for Students

Information - Counselling - Integration

One of the most important elements necessary to be a successful student these days is a greater level of support in terms of social services. This is reason enough for us to constantly re-examine and re-adjust the form in which Student Support Services Münster looks after the social, economic and cultural needs of students in line with their changing circumstances and requirements.

Since January 2006, the services offered to students have therefore been expanded to include a counselling service.

Focus of Counselling Service

Counselling is available in the following areas, among others:

  • At the beginning and end of your studies
  • Finances
  • Housing
  • Rights of foreigners: queries specific to international students
  • Students with children
  • Students with a disability or chronic condition, but also for general questions about studying or to assist with personal problems and issues
  • Advice on general questions about studying
  • Counselling for personal problems and issues

Counselling is offered free of charge and remains completely confidential.

During counselling, students with children can use the play area set aside in the counselling office – see the attached photo.

Social Integration

As well as providing counselling on personal matters and issues arising in the day-to-day life of a student, we regard one of our core tasks to be the better integration of foreign students in the social fabric of the university town of Münster.

In our residences alone, students from over one hundred different nations are living in student accommodation. For these students as well as for students as a whole, we provide both counselling for areas of conflict, as well as organisational support for cultural events and recreational activities.

Internationalisation

The tutoring project for international students. The tutors are the contact person for students who will assist with any questions about student life and for everyday problems. They also organize recreational projects and support the existing structures of the student self-administration in the housing complexes.
